Privacy Policy

The short version: Parkie collects what it needs to run your account and show you the parks. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking tools. Your location stays on your phone. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.

1. Who we are

Parkie is a theme park companion app for iPhone and Android, and this website (parkieapp.com). "Parkie", "we" and "us" mean the people who run it. Questions about privacy go to support@parkieapp.com.

2. What we collect

You can browse wait times without an account. When you create an account and use Parkie, we collect:

TypeWhat
AccountYour email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), or the account ID and email that Apple or Google share with us when you use Sign in with Apple or Google. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real email.
ProfileUsername, display name, profile photo and bio, plus the badges and experience points you earn.
Ride and park activityRides you log (time, wait, notes, song or variant), ratings and reviews, park visits (check-ins), and, on iPhone, the step count for a park day if you allow it.
Posts and socialPosts, photos and videos you upload, comments, likes, reshares, poll votes, friends and friend requests, groups you join, meetups and RSVPs, people you block, and reports you send.
Passholder detailsIf you add them: your pass type, price paid, purchase date and similar values used to work out your savings.
Alerts and notificationsThe ride alerts you set, and a push notification token for each device, so we can send you alerts.
TechnicalOur hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, time and the request made) for security and to keep the service running.

We do not collect your contacts, advertising identifiers, or your precise location, and we don't use third-party analytics, crash-reporting or advertising tools.

3. Data that stays on your device

Some features work entirely on your phone and are never sent to us: the parks you choose to show, today's must-dos, rides you logged offline until they sync, cached wait times for widgets and Live Activities, and your location for the park map and auto check-in (see section 7).

4. How we use it

  • To run your account and show you your rides, stats, badges, passports and passholder savings.
  • To show your posts and profile to other Parkie users, and theirs to you.
  • To send the ride alerts you set up and other notifications you turn on.
  • To keep Parkie safe: reviewing reports, removing content that breaks our community guidelines, and blocking abuse.
  • To answer you when you contact us.

We don't sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.

5. What other people can see

  • Everyone using Parkie can see your username, display name, profile photo, bio, badges and counts (such as rides logged), your posts and comments (including posts in groups), and ride ratings and reviews. People you block can't see your posts, and you won't see theirs.
  • Other Parkie users can also see the rides you've logged, the groups you're in, and your RSVPs to group meetups.
  • Only you (and Parkie staff when needed to run the service or review a report) can see your email, park visits and steps, passholder details, ride alerts, blocked users and reports.

Photos attached to posts are stored at a web address so the app can load them, so anyone who has that link can open the image. Please don't post anything you want to keep private.

6. Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run Parkie, and only what each one needs:

  • Supabase hosts our database, file storage, sign-in and server functions.
  • Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers iPhone notifications (Apple Push Notification service).
  • Google provides Sign in with Google and delivers Android notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
  • Netlify hosts this website.

The app gets public park data (wait times, hours and ride lists) directly from ThemeParks.wiki and Queue-Times.com, and some park and ride images from the parks' own websites. We don't send them any of your personal information, but like any website they receive your device's IP address when the app loads data from them.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Parkie (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information).

7. Health, motion and location

Steps (iPhone)

If you allow it, Parkie reads your step count from Apple Health and the iPhone's motion sensor, and saves the total for each park day to your account so it can appear in your day recap and badges. Parkie only reads step count, and does not write to Apple Health. We never use health or fitness data for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it with third parties. It is only visible to others if you choose to post a day recap that includes it.

Location (iPhone)

Parkie uses your location in two optional ways, and your location is never uploaded to us:

  • Park map: shows where you are and how far you are from rides, on your device.
  • Auto check-in: if you turn it on and allow "Always" location, your iPhone watches for when you arrive at a park (even when Parkie is closed) and tells Parkie. We save only the check-in (which park, and when), not your coordinates.

You can turn either off at any time in Parkie's settings or in iOS Settings. The Android app doesn't use location.

Camera and calendar (iPhone)

The camera is used only to scan a friend's Parkie QR code, and images aren't saved. Calendar access is used only to add meetups you RSVP to, and Parkie can't read your calendar.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, uploaded photos and videos, posts, comments, likes, ride logs, park visits, alerts, notification tokens and other data linked to it. Data may remain in our providers' encrypted backups for a limited time before it is overwritten. We may keep limited records if the law requires it, or to deal with serious abuse (for example, a record that an account was banned).

9. Your choices and rights

  • Edit your profile, posts and ride logs in the app.
  • Delete posts, comments and logs at any time, or your whole account (see how to delete your account).
  • Turn off notifications, location, Health and calendar access in your phone's settings.
  • Block and report people and content from inside the app.

Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it's used, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. Email support@parkieapp.com from the address on your account and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. We process your data to provide the service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interest in keeping Parkie safe, and with your consent for optional features like Health, location and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time.

10. Children

Parkie is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it. See also our child safety standards.

11. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), access to private data is restricted at the database level, and passwords are stored only as secure hashes by our authentication provider. No service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, where our service providers operate.

12. Changes and contact

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app. Questions or requests: support@parkieapp.com.
